I reject that argument outright. Yes, some costs have gone up, surely (classrooms need technology guides), but those technologies enhance productivity and replace tools that were used previously. Are you suggesting that schools are above working ‘smarter’ with the resources?

Let me give you an example . . . you mention buildings as a cost. Instead of building new buildings perhaps current classrooms could be used more efficiently so that the teach space (filled with the technology you mention) is utilized a greater percentage of the time. For example, when I was in school teachers had classrooms that served as both their primary teaching location and their office. Could teacher’s offices be consolidated into fewer rooms and teaching locations be used for a great percentage of time, reducing the need for square footage and technology?
